I have never had that big of a problem moving my clock FORWARD one hour every Spring season.
UNTIL I became a Pastor.
In the blink of a Master’s Degree…
setting JUST ONE clock on the CORRECT TIME to be prepared for Sunday morning services was enough stress for me to consider taking up yoga.
“Spring Forward” provides a launching-point into our future.
We WANT it to be SPRING (new life, in-person worship, fresh air, the grass is “greener,” etc.), don’t we?
We want it to be “Easter morning from now on,” to coin a phrase from a well-known Emmaus Walk song.
This past Easter Sunday, our topic was about Jesus ROLLING AWAY the gravestone that held him back. We took home our own rocks, as an opportunity to LET GO of whatever “rock” seems to be holding US back, and let God handle it.
Oswald Chambers shared a similar phrase, over one hundred years ago, that was published for the April 13th entry in My Utmost for His Highest. He said,
“If we will only ROLL BACK on God the burdens He has placed on us, He will take away that immense feeling of responsibility, replacing it with an awareness and understanding of Himself and His presence.”
I want to extend an invitation to make this gesture REAL for you:
- NAME the “rocks” that are holding you back.
- ROLL BACK onto God the burdens in your life that you are unable to move, and let’s SPRING FORWARD into a new season for Isom’s Chapel!
May God bless you, and use you to be a vessel for his service, and a light that points others to Jesus.
I cannot wait to worship with you.
